5th RNE Technical Meeting Report

July 07, 2009

70 timetabling experts from 34 Railway Infrastructure Managers and Allocation Bodies gathered in Brussels from 22nd to 25th June 2009. Their aim was to develop optimized international path offers for the annual timetable 2010. RNE was in charge of organizing 120 bilateral and multilateral meetings between Infrastructure Managers during these four days, which gave all participants the opportunity to share and check information together. Pathfinder was intensively used to support this work.
The upcoming market opening of international passenger traffic in 2010 has already become noticeable. On several corridors, duplicate international path requests for the same existing long-distance traffic were discussed.

Representatives of the European Commission and the Belgian Railway Regulatory Body participated in some of the meetings in order to get familiar with the harmonisation process between Infrastructure Managers and Allocation Bodies.
