Quality & Operations Overview

The Quality and Operations Working Group (Q&O WG) consists of experts on quality analysis and operations of the RNE member-organisations. Its main role is to propose, manage and execute projects related to Quality and Operations processes and to define the functional requirements for the IT tools supporting these processes.

Responsibilities:
  • develop an international Quality Monitoring System in the sense of train performance and to produce requirements for appropriate IT tools;
  • to follow up various European projects dealing with quality and operations issues;
  • to contribute (through expert opinions concerning operational issues) to TAF and TAP TSI development;
  • to take care of the development and improvement of operational processes in order to improve and facilitate cooperation
  • between RNE members at the operational level;
  • to give advice about quality standards and operational processes;
  • to be the partner for all questions concerning quality and operations.

Activities:
  • Q&O WG meetings were established as the main platforms for the regular sharing of experiences in quality monitoring, performance analysis and other operations-related issues
  • In order to establish regular performance monitoring and quality improvement at the international level, the group started the project ’Train Performance Management on RNE Corridors’. (link to a separate page to be made here)
  • Experts from the Q&O WG, together with partners from the IM and RU Clusters of TAF TSI, have formed two TAF TSI working groups focused on operational issues (link to the TAF TSI section to be made, if available). The main task of both these working groups is to reach a common understanding of TAF TSI and so to define the business processes.
  • The group strongly contribute to the EPR project, mainly by taking care of the implementation of the monitoring system, data gathering and new delay coding, thus preparing the basis for different test runs.
  • To improve the real time communication between IMs and RUs during the Operations, group has started the project ‘Communication between Traffic Control Centres’ (link to a separate page to be made here).
  • A very important task of the group is the contribution to the development of EUROPTIRAILS (link to EOPT section), aiming to deliver sound reports for EPR and Train Performance Management.
